Really?!?

Okay, totally frustrated-drove all the way to the psychiatrist this morning(45 minute drive)just to get there and find out that she had gotten sick and had to go home. Of course, I was with all three kids-had to wake all of them up to go and it made Tori 30 minutes late to her music camp. And they couldn't even get Kenz back in to see her until the 20th of July. Then I get a call saying she is okay to return to work and she is opening up her schedule tomorrow for the patients that she missed today. So now I have to do it all again tomorrow at 1:00! This time I am calling before I leave the house to make sure she is okay. At least it is not early morning again.

  2. Thanks Megan. I wish you could have too. I decided to do a phone conversation with her the next day. I got her to try the Amantadine for Kenz. She started her out on 100mg at night for one week and then another 50 to 100 mg. in the morning. Does that sound right? She is knew to this medicine but she did research it. do you think it cold help with her anxiety and irritability?

  3. Amy-- let me know how Amantadine works for you, cuz we (Royal we) my son could not tolerate it -- made him way worse - aggressive in a new way-- it's funny how meds can show themselves either helping, b/c all of a sudden you feel NORMAL - but when they are wrong -- it's a weird NEW wrong that does not help the already wrong that is there. Does that make ANY sense? Anyway-- I will follow your blog and find out. i am so eager to find the right mix for my son! Not yet....

  4. How is it going? The amantadine? Caroline takes one in the morning and one at noon. I don't know why Dr. Stone at Meridell does it that way, but I am hearing of other dosing schedules. Let me know!

  5. Megan and Heather-Kenz is only taking one amantadine at night at 100 mg and so far no adverse reactions. I have not given her one in the morning too yet because we are on vacation and afraid of what might happen. We are at my parents, and not willing to take the risk if you know what I mean. We come home today so I am going to try it tomorrow morning. I will keep you updated. So far we have not seen any major improvements but we are out of town and it is hard to tell. However, she is doing much better over all. My husband and I were just talking last night and we realized that this vacation has been one of her best in a long time. So thankful. Not sure why except maybe we are handling her better. But we will take it when we can get it.

  6. Isn't that the truth! I think what you would notice with the full dose of Amantadine, if it works for her, is a much calmer child who is able to think before she acts for the most part. I hope it does work!
